Today is
Farmer's Market & Craft Show

More than 175 crafters and artisans offer an unmatched array of Ogle County's finest handmade, homegrown and collectible items including antiques, arts and crafts creations, ornamental and garden produce, painted items, jewelry, soaps, candles, antiques, and seasonal items are just a few of the hundreds of items that can be found throughout the craft show. The booths will be displayed around the historic Ogle County Courthouse and surrounding area.

According to festival history, seven vendors participated in the first festival offering items such as bittersweet and apples. Those seven vendors sold their items on Third Street on a rainy weekend in September and really were the foundation of the festival.

As the festival began to take shape, the Farmers' Market was moved to the Courthouse Square where the stately Ogle County Courthouse, age 117, provides an impressive backdrop for the event.

Approximately 75 percent of the vendors return and many have established a client base that visit the festival regularly to patronize these vendors.

Sanctioned (legal) vendors who are authorized to participate by the festival committee are identified by bright orange vendor signs displayed at their booth. Visitors are asked to patronize only those vendors displaying these signs which are located in the designated area of the festival since they are the ones that help make the festival a successful venture from year to year and support the festival financially.

The Farmers' Market and Craft Show will be open from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday, October 2, and 9 am to 5 pm on Sunday, October 3, 2010.
